Napoleon,
I was just watching a video of your Hawaii ride last night and then realized that you rode a LG Rocket in '05 and then switched to a Giro Advantage for '06. I also checked your website today and noticed that you were not sponsored by Giro this year (at least thats what the website showed & i don’t read German).
So, my questions to you are…
- What is the difference between the Rocket and Advantage…?
- What made you choose the Advantage for '06…?
- Did you find out that the Advantage gives you a lower drag (suits your profile better) while you were in the wind tunnel…?
- Did you switch because there were more vents in the Advantage…?
Just from the looks of the Rocket, it seems that the Rocket is so much more of a bigger (wider) helmet when viewed from the front (like wearing a helmet the size of a basketball over your head when viewed from the front). The Advantage does not seem to “look” like its very big. What are your thoughts on this…? Am i just imagining this…?
Big looking helmet pic with the Rocket…

Smaller looking helmet pic with the Advantage…

Gary Tingley also recently posted up some side-by-side pics of the Rocket, Meteor II & Advantage (as seen below)… Another poster had noted something important which was… that the Rocket seems to be the only helmet out of the 3 that had some sort of a “retention” system. What are your thoughts on this…? From your experience with the Advantage, how secure is the Advantage…?

Thanks for your reply in advance… I really appreciate to hear from someone who has actually used these products and have first hand knowledge. Not all of us have the privilege to have wind tunnel time or the chance to get inspect these products before having to make a choice.
