yes, it was baad…very bad…and then to top off my weekend I went for a two hour ride this morning to console myself after the horrors of last night…and my riding partner got a flat, then she crashed into me, and then we got hailed on!!! F**** random Kiwi weather.

Nah, I just tooled around the city yesterday…but riding in a hail storm was interesting. First time in a while I have been really scared on a bike!

George Gregan sure can talk tho’ eh. Talked the ref into changing a penalty against the All Blacks, to against himself! Ha!
Mind you, he did eventually manage to talk the ref into yellow carding an All Black so I guees it was worth it.
My boss is an Aussie and he was crowing very loudly this morning about the hiding the Wallabies gave the Kiwis. 5 points is NOT a hiding! And I also heard a report in Oz about how the Australians had dominated and were lucky to get away with the win, so it was obviously close in the end.
Good game to watch but the outcome sucked.
It was a good game to watch, but not as good as the first All Blacks/Boks game - that one was a bloody heart stopper! I was just hoping this one would end the same, but to their credit, both teams had pretty staunch defence when it counted. Bastard Aussies tho! And Gregan getting that call reversed on him was a bit odd - I thought the captains (and only them) are allowed to query a decision (?) I did think the ref was pretty inconsistent, especially with the advantage calls. I have to admit tho’ haven’t had a chance to watch a heck of a lot of the game for many years, so all the (apparently) new rules have me guessing a bit now. And the yellow card deal, what’s that about ??!! I think it was for deliberately creating a penalty to stop play, is that it? But still, yellow card seems a bit odd for the game.

The “knock-on” rule always gets me. I still haven’t figured that one out. How Lote Tukiri (sp?) didn’t get a knock-on before his try is beyond me. Ball went up and out of his hands, travelled forward and he caught it. Plenty of times I’ve seen that called a knock-on but not this time.
The ref was not very good IMHO.
I also hate when the ref becomes like a third team and tells players what to do (rolling away from rucks and malls etc) I think he should be there simply to penalise offenders, not coach them in the damn game.

…the knock on rule is tricky, but if the ball doesn’t touch the ground and the same player both moves it forward and catches it, then it is no knock on.
I know what you mean about the ref talking during the game, but from my experience playing and now coaching rugby, it makes a huge difference when the ref lets you know when HE thinks you are infringing, because they all differ so much in interpretation. That’s what pissed me off about the other night - Kaplan was hammering us for off side, and being quite clear in his rulings. But did we get the message, go half a metre back, and not get penalised? No. We got a player binned, conceded 8 points, and lost the game. Stupid.
That’s what I thought the knock on rule was, but tons o’ times I’ve seen players pinged for bobbling the ball.
Rules? Who can figure them out? I just make sure I’m 10m back to avoid getting done for drafting, rather than risking the 7m judgement call from a bloke on a motorbike.

I’m built like a miniature lock! so keeping back 7m in IM is never a problem!
With an (old) Orca wetsuit on, I’m sure I could swim with killer whales! with no problem! but running sure is a challenge, let alone worrying about drafting off anyone.

Bit of a messy game but a good result for us South Africans!! The next two weekend should throw up some really good rugby.
Just as well it won’t be a South African ref this weekend then, eh ? Somehow, I find I’m down a 6 pack to my jaapie mate right now, need to get that back when the All Blacks get back to their dominating ways. Hope they’ve learned the ‘professional foul’ rule by now.
