I know we highjacked a thread a while back about this, and you said you knew not of what we were speaking when we brought up the Cyclingnews article about Mr. Page riding a carbon Cervelo 'cross bike this season, but I just saw some pics from a recent Euro race, and he is aboard a bike that looks like it has Cervelo decals (hard to tell, though). So, is he riding, or should I more accurately ask, is he sponsored by Cervelo this year?
The US edition of Sports Illustrated a couple weeks back had some sort of “adventure sports” section to it, including a page on cross showing a nice picture of what was described as Cervelo’s cross prototype bike.
It was probably the alleged Page bike, but I don’t recall the rider name, and my knowledge of cycling news is pretty much limited to Le Tour.
Page has also teamed up with Cervelo, Mavic, and Adidas as primary sponsors for his next cyclo-cross season. **Cervelo reportedly plans to create a signature series carbon 'cross frame for Page for the coming year. **

hmmmmmmmmm. nice old school “yuppie-flage” paint scheme straight outta the mid-eigthies. looks like a smoke-torched diamondback apex.
also, appears to be steel, eh?
also, those chainstays bear a striking resemblance to those of an indy fab . . . . . . . .
so, whattup gerard - you got your guy on an indy fab with c-velo stickers ?
dunno dre’. rear triangles used to be columbus, at one point at least. who else uses those large diameter chainstays with the rapid taper at the dropout? lookit that seat cluster, and the seatstays. i’m sayin IF. ![]()
I don’t know if the paint scheme is eighties or not, I would think Hottubes wouldn’t be too happy with that classification. We support Jonathan together with Hottubes, and he will have two models. No names yet, although I think the one he is riding now should be called the Croissance (Renaissance Cross) and the other one will probably be called R2.5 Cross. And no, there is no a connection with IF (although they make some nice bikes).
hey man, i am all for the eighties. yuppie-flage can be the new black, so far as i am concerned!
thanx for playing, BTW. no further clues ?? if hot-tubes is painting it i am guessing it wasn’t made in taiwan . . . . . still gotta account for those IF-like stays ( unless it is an optical illusion of the photo ). . . . . . . . . . .a couple guys have split off from somerville i know . . . . . . . . .
anyway, it looks nice, and big ups to you for helping jonathon out. super nice, that. gotta new 'cross frame in mind for next year. riding one like page’s sounds good to me, and it wasn’t gonna happen when dude was on a sachs !! a c-velo just moved to the head of the line for ttn, whodathinkit. ![]()
I’d ride a bike named Croissance… ![]()
Actually, those are standard off-the-shelf stays.
right then. just a photo-angle thing.
gotta price point ? frame only available ?? tubing ??? general geometry ideas ??? availability ???
will it be at vegas ??? seriously man, looks nice.
it’s just a stupid foco tubed steel bike made by hot tubes. who cares…except jonathon page who has a bike far worse than any other professional racer…better hope that carbon job is done in time…or else find some decals for that ridley you have in your closet. cervelo makes one of the finest, techiest carbon frames in the world…and a champ like page is on that.,sheesh
jerk
hmm, seemed to work well enough to get him a 4th place against the best in the world. It’s the engine.
Gerard sez: “I don’t know if the paint scheme is eighties or not, I would think Hottubes wouldn’t be too happy with that classification.”
The “smoke” paintjobs of the '80s is one of the paintjobs that I missed, and these guys seem to know how to do a good smoke paintjob. Those were a LOT nicer that the neons and black with neon web paintjobs that were popular just a few years later. Everything comes back around, as we had the chevrons and panels come back for a brief time, as well; next will be web paintjobs. I would almost be tempted to have Hot Tubes paint up Samantha like that, as the larger dimensions of Samantha would make for a very cool effect with the smoke paintjobs. Ofcourse, if my back gets no better, it looks like a Softride and no USCF racing for me…
Anyway, looks like a very nice frame, G.
the jerk opines: "it’s just a stupid foco tubed steel bike made by hot tubes. who cares…except jonathon page who has a bike far worse than any other professional racer…better hope that carbon job is done in time…or else find some decals for that ridley you have in your closet. cervelo makes one of the finest, techiest carbon frames in the world…and a champ like page is on that.,sheesh "
well jerk where do we begin? stupid? overpriced throwaway aluminum cyclocross frames for people who don’t get them for free strike me as stupid. hi-quality steel frames that ride decent and last a while brought to market by a company with the wherewithal to do it at a reasonable price strike me as sorta interesting. hence, a few questions for the designer. sheesh, indeed.
That’s funny because the guys he trains with like Mario DeClerc all liked his bike a lot.
“Croissance”
I had one of those for breakfast this morning with some strawberry preserves. Tasty.
and his full-Thermacrom frame is lighter than the stuff the other guys are riding on. Steel is real (though not as real as an R2.5 Cross).
