Except that since what he give me is mostly “recommendations” then it would largely ineffective. Besides, he already told me I need to start eating half a gallon of ice cream a day starting six weeks out from next year’s duathlon nationals, so his “advice” is already somewhat suspect. I kept telling him we aren’t even in the same age group next year, but he won’t listen.
And he couldn’t possibly teach me to swim worse than I do now.

Actually, I would.
My O-distance personal worst–38 minutes and 45 seconds.
1/2 IM worst–46 minutes, though that did include a transition.
The only way you could make me worse is if you somehow convinced me that doing the doggy-paddle was a good idea.
By the way, I did have ice cream with my pie for dinner. I also ran 9 hours and rode 6:30 this week, so my weight doesn’t seem to be going up. It also rained today for the first time in 117 days. It was really weird.

wow, you may be a worse swimmer than Khai when I first saw him swim. I had to have him do an extra 50 while I tried to figure out which stroke flaw was his worst.
I think we can fix you up a bit, and I’m bold enough to say that sight unseen!

I did manage a 36:45 Half-IM swim last year at this time before the heater broke and pool closed.

I don’t know if it was doggy paddle, but it sure resembled treading water more than it did swimming. I didn’t pass treading water either in flight school, so you can see we are not good friends–H2O and I–when I am trying to move about and not drink it.

I hope so, but I don’t know anymore. They switched me to a different job. I am now the Regimental Combat Team-8 Public affairs officer. Our area of operations includes the city of Fallujah and its surrounding communities. Did I tell you I spend the weekend of the referendum in Fallujah? Luckily nothing happened except a grenade going off across the street. In any case, I don’t know what it means for my departure date. No later than the end of February I think. Hopefully I’ll make it home in time for the Desert Duathlon. I ran fairly well last year there, but my ride and subsequent run sucked. I had played with my position to my detriment over the winter. Interestingly enough, I went the Bicycle Ranch the next day and had an outstanding fit session. Of course, had I stuck with the recommendations Ves gave me when he made the bike I would not have needed the fitting. The Ranch even diagnosed a leg length discrepancy that I was able to correct with spacers on my cleat.
Hopefully the pool will be open across the street from my office. Once you swim in a 50-meter pool, all others are painful.

LOL! Awesome. Once I get done rehab’ing my shoulder, I’ll get back to working on my stroke. The good news is that it can’t be getting any worse, right?

Can you make me a really fast swimmer by June 25th? That’s not too much to ask is it? Just in case they decide to go with a draft-legal format again this year at the Armed Forces triathlon.
I’ll I need is a 22 or so to jump in the big pack and then I’ll just draft on the bike until they are all mad at me. That way they will do all the work and burn calories being angry. I figure when we all get off the bike and I run away from then they will be ready to spontaneously combust. Draft-legal triathlon might me fun.

oh boy 22 thats possibly asking a bit much. Isn’t that still going to put you far back that you will have to ride like crazy to bridge up?
And I’ll bet $5 that they go with draft legal since the Military WC are draft legal. It’s about emphasising the bookends.

Are you talking about his black Javelin Agricole? Last I heard he had just ordered a P3C so I’m not sure what he is doing with the Javelin. I tried a search for you under his various screen names but he has changed it again and my bet is that he is in lurker mode.
