I’m looking at a Garmin Christmas. Would you get the 110, with the smaller, watchlike size, or the 205/305? If you have a Garmin heartrate strap, would it owrk with the 205?
Thanks

I can’t speak for the 110 or the 205, but out of everything I have bought for triathlon, my Garmin 305 was the best investment. Totally worth the coin.
I have 310xt and love it. So many options and settings, nothing you cant track.
Second the 305. I got it as a gift and it is by far the best tool I have for training. Until I get power of some sort at least.
You cannot go wrong spending 150$ on that thing however.
I love my 305. I would get the 310xt if I were shopping today, however.

No. The 205 does not support “extras” like heart rate and foot pod. Not even an option:

x (n+1) on the 310XT, best sports watch I had. I started out with Polar and moved to a FR50, 201, 305 and now have a 310XT. I’d never look back.

x4 on the 310xt. I have the 305 and the only thing i want to do with it that i can’t is swim in open water. get the 310st.
id chose the 210 over the 310xt since its simpler and lightweight for running. there are better options for a cycling computer with longer battery life.
Just do it. Stop thinking about it. I have the 305 with the HR strap and I love it!
Thanks for the posts, looking at asking Santa for a Garmin as well. Trying to determine of the 310 Xt is worth 2x the price of the 305. Major advantages to the 310 Xt seesm to be as follows:
Am I missing anything else?
Thanks,
Greg
That should help you decide the 310 or 305. Do you, or will you run a powermeter. I run the 305 and love it. I also use it on my boat for paddling.
Actually, there are several other features that the 310xt has that the 305 does not. I have had the 305 for 2 years and would not ever want to train without it! Yesterday was my bday…and I got the 310xt! Giving the 305 to my wife. First run with it tomorrow… Here are a few more things I noticed while setting it up:
One more for the 305 (with HR)** **- Great training tool, very versatile. Just bought one for the wife ($130 - Amazon).
305all the way
.
Thanks, I do not train with power but the vibration sounds nice, but for me still iffey on 2x the price.
$130 seems like a smoking price too dam, thanks.
Many Thanks,
