Here you go - Chest/Belly Bottle Aero Test Results

Love you work, as always Jim.
Two questions:

  1. With the picture posted higher up of Joe, his water etc seems to be way down around his abdomen and not high up. This seems to go against your testing in terms of the ideal placement? Would this maybe be placed there for Joe because of his unique front end set up he was using in that race?

  2. Do you think this approach will be banned? With the results as they are, it sticks out to me that it would be difficult for this to continue to be allowed?
Thanks for the openness and transparency of the work you produce.

  3. Do you mean Tony? That photo was probably taken when he tried it litter on his abdomen.

  4. Not sure. I could see it moving into a useful product with a house to drink from and perhaps more acceptable. I think if athletes just use it as a fairing, then they’ll probably nice to ban it.

Sorry Jim, I mean the photo in the thread of Joe Skipper’s set up. Most of the stuff seems to be around his abdominal area rather than higher up on his chest. I was thinking that because of his water bottle set up (between the bars and above the bars) this was probably better being lower down for him than higher up?

Joe talked about it during the race recap on his podcast. It sounded like it was a full camelbak bladder and he didn’t seem too concerned about the low/high position other than it not hitting him in the balls (which happened when he slid it into his suit). He just said it he was worried about getting it into his suit in transition, but it slid down faster than expected. Once he got on the bike and pulled it up and out of the way it worked well for him. No mention of any specific target point of where he wanted the bladder.

Thanks, seems to have dealt with it a lot better than Sam Laidlow did in Lanzarote. The clips of him in transition are painful to watch!
