Here we go again.....cops

Just amazing, fires wildly without even seeing a gun. I guess, at least he calls it in and appears to feel a sense of remorse, but holy shit.

Dude appears to reach into his car very quickly, however, to just pull the gun and shoot? Seems a tad extreme.

My instant reaction when he patted his ass and turned around was that he was turning around to grab his license as requested. The cops assumption that he is going back in for a gun absolutely scares the shit out of me. I see these things and have no idea how to interact with police to protect myself from a trigger happy cop.

Why did he get out of his car?

He was already getting out of the car to go into the gas station.

It’s simple. Don’t be black.

In the cop’s defense, the guy did look positively black.

Great, so I’m fucked.

The cops are not good to most people.

With out question he was black. What’s a cop supposed to do?

I don’t actually think the cop will serve much if any time. I do think it was driven by an irrational fear of a young black man, but the video after the shooting actually helps him. He seemed to do at least most of the right things after the fact and I think he understood he fucked up big time. Then again, he knew his dash cam was on as well. If no dash cam he might have invented a story.

Chris Rock has some advice:

Stop whatever you are doing. Just stop.

I agree he didn’t need to be shot but why did he make a movement that could be perceived as aggressive?

I think we all know what the real problem is… yup, its: Obama.
He must have made this happen. I’m not yet quite sure how, but there are a number of denizens in the ‘Obama Latte Salute’ thread who will no doubt come up with a connection.

So true. So true.

Correction-Don’t be a black man. Shit like this rarely happens to black women.

I was running this morning and was thinking about the out of control cops who shoot at the drop of a hat. It scares the crap out of me, especially for my son who is autistic and has challenges with communication. He isn’t driving yet, but I can see him struggling to communicate and follow directions from an aggressive cop if he gets pulled over.

I think we need to send cops to jail when they do something like this guy did. That may be the only thing that gets them under control - but even then I’m not sure it will work. I’m afraid they’ll follow the “better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6” philosophy. I think police departments need to increase training and get rid of the out of control cops.

I don’t know where I saw it but there was another story within the last few days of a black teenager who was gunned down by cops for picking up a BB gun in Walmart and carrying it around. In the news because cops weren’t indicted for killing him.
