Herbert won his age group today at the QR Triathlon in CHATTANOOGA, TN. He was 9th overall and seems to have had the fastest bike split of the day which is the only important split anyways.
Thanks for the kudos, that is very kind. I do really appreciate having the fastest bike split indeed, and I agree it is the most important split.
But I must also admit that while there were over 500 starters at this race, the field was not super competitive. It is a fun local race that attracts many beginners and you can actually see quite a few mountain bikes and even bikes with baby seats. At the start I even noticed a guy in a sleeveless wetsuit with the zipper in the front like in that McDonalds surfer commercial.
Ian,
You may have come from swimming like Bruce Gennari, but both of you are now well rounded triathletes with great bike prowess.
I came from cycling and wish my swimming would have picked up as much as your cycling.
Good job Herbert! That is an incredible bike split that you put up. And to consider that it was your second race in two days makes it more impresive. It was great to see you in Guntersville on Saturday.
