Hey folks,
My wife bought me a nice Castelli (acid green motriolo) Kit for Xmas. I have never owned anything of this caliber. All of my other gear is the cheapest Performance or generic stuff I could find. I have to say that the Castelli kit feels amazing, the material and fit in the legs is great. The exception is the front of the bib being cut so low that my “peeper” threatens to poke out of the top and if I stand up straight my abdomen is exposed. Additionally the strap portion originates on my hips rather than on the front so it is a little awkward having them come up my sides essentially.
For those familiar with this product and other Castelli, are they all cut like this? Can you recommend something of a similar feel, quality and cost that may be cut more like what I am used to?
What other products are similar in feel to this? I am unaware of any stores that carry this type of clothing so I have been looking online. Any other suggestions?
I believe the Mortirolo has the same fit/cut as their Aero Bib Short, which is cut very low at the front (my team is fortunate enough to have Castelli as a sponsor, the Aero Race Bib is basically the only Bib I ride in) but you should be able to tuck a base layer in just fine. Look at the castelli website and you’ll see not all their bibs are cut as low and can likely find something of similar quality/price that is cut a little higher in the front.
Most of the Italian/Euro stuff is cut like that. Fits fine for some (me), not for others.
Hincapie bibs are much higher in front and likely what you are looking for (i.e. good quality, cut, cost, etc.). Might also recommend some Desoto 400-mile bibs: very nice.
