Hey everyone, I am trying to install Time Impact S pedals onto a FSA Carbon Pro Team Issue Crank from Giant. I have the right allen wrench and am trying to tread the pedal into the crank, but it doesnt seem to want to turn. I have spent 30 minutes trying to figure it out. Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions? Thanks **** ****
The pedals have opposite threads. Both sides tighten by turning them over the top of the pedal toward the front of the bike. That is the same direction that would tend to tighten the pedals as you pedal normally.
this may sound stupid, but make sure you have the right and left pedals matched up correctly. I did this once.
damn Art, you type faster than me
If its the left one, it unloosens clockwise, not counter clockwise.
The main problem is that I cant get the pedal started into the tread on the crank. It just wont catch so as to be able to tighten up…
One side is right hand thread and the other is left hand threads. I once had this problem and it turned out the pedals were both R pedals even though they were marked R and L.

What everyone else said… one more thing absolutely absolutely make sure that you have the right pedal going into the right arm… forcing the pedal to go in will cause you to strip your threads (actually cross thread) which makes for either pain in the ass repair or a replacement.
I would say instead of a allen wrench, go for the pedal wrench if your pedals will allow for this… you are going to get much more leverage that way.
Aaaahhh!!!. Put down the wrenches. You shouldn’t need an Allen wrench or a pedal wrench to get those things started. Using a wrench except to tighten things at the end just increases the odds you’ll irreversibly bugger the threads, if you haven’t done so already.
