Ladies and Gentlemen,
I thougt I might garner some assistance and/or feedback from you. I am in the market for a new bike, namely a Cervelo P3. I understand the most important item is to buy the bike that fits you, not the other way around. With that being said, I would like to try my best to upgrade to a P3.
I currently am on a Cervelo One . Looking over my fit, I have the following measurements:
sternal notch: 59.5" 151.1 cm Inseam: 34.25" 87cm Arm length: 21.66" 55cm Thigh: 24.5" 62.2cm Lower leg: 22.75" 57.8 cm Height 6’ 1"
According to my fit, ideal top tube length between 54.8 and 56. Ideal seat tube length 59.5 but alternate seat tube calculation came out at 56. Also had my ideal seat tube angle at 80 degrees
On my current set up, which by the way, is a 60cm frame, I find myself most comfortable and efficient near the nose of the saddle. My saddle is forward all the way on the rails and I am currently on a Thompson 0 degree set-back post. I seem to be a bit “stretched out” on the aero bars, as I end up with my elbows off the aero bar pads in closer to the cockpit of the bike. On long rides, including IM, I tend to get a horrendous cramp in the back of my neck. On this set-up the drop from the top of my saddle to the tops of the aero bar pads is minimal, at best. I’ve even lowered the stem, removing some of the spacers and having the fork tube re-cut. Bottom line: I think I might have been set-up on a bike that is too big for me.
Reading the another post regarding a similar situation, I see many athletes at my same height on smaller frames . If I decide to go with the P3 my guess is I will spend most of the time at 79 degrees. Alas, I will obviously go with another professional fit, however, it would be nice to find someplace to start.
Your comments are most appreciated, as are those that are sure to come from Gerard. Thanks in advance
Sincerely
Mark
