My main A race for the year (1/2 Vineman) is coming up in 5 ½ weeks, and I could use help structuring my remaining weeks. My long run is up to 10 miles and my long brick is up to 4 ½ hours. This week is a build 1 week and I have a B race (Olympic distance) this Sunday. My plan for this week was to up my long run to 11 miles on Thursday and use the race as my brick. Does this make sense, or should I do a long brick on Thursday (~5 hours) and forget about the long run. Next – In two weeks (I’m 54, so I have 3 week cycles) I have a recovery week and had planned to do a low intensity ½ distance run on Thursday and a long brick on Saturday or Sunday with no other tough workouts since it’s a recovery week. Finally – I had planned to do my last long run about 17 days before the Vineman and the last long brick 15 days before. Any suggestions on these final weeks would be appreciated.
