my friends have taken to calling me “triathadon”, which is pronounced much like “triathlon” - that is, triath-uh-lon. we’re buying t-shirts with our nicknames on the back (it’s a fraternity thing) and they’re asking me how to spell my name.
is it triathdon or triathadon?
also, do you have a triathlon-related nickname that your friends call you? just curious.
as a fraternity man myself, and fellow phi psi, I feel that perhaps this needs more explanation. “T-shirts made up” sound like you are pansy ass, giggly, sorority girls. We need to clarify for those unfamiliar with the ways of fraternities that these shirts are for INTRAMURAL SPORTING EVENTS (I presume). A very tough, and masculine passtime.
dear lord, i can’t believe i made it sound like that. let me elaborate…
we are getting Intramural Sport jerseys (aka t-shirts w/ our names on the back) made up, because all of ours are pretty much destroyed.
mine, for example, had the right sleeve torn off, and there’s blood stains down the front. and as i’m the stereotypically uncoordinated endurance athlete, i don’t get to play as often as the other guys do. they are all bigger and hit harder - of course, we are only supposed to be playing flag football and other similarly-defanged sports, but fraternity men don’t shy away from physical competition.
