Help! Renn 575 disc problem, related to Felt DA

I got a new Renn 575 disc recently, and during the past 10 days it’s been having this problem where I hear a persistant creaking coming from it when I am pedaling steadily and at least with medium power. It gets louder and louder throughout the ride, and it’s been getting worse with each ride. It may be b/c I can’t get it tight enough on my 2004 Felt DA. I can push it over to either brake pad without much pressure. I’ve tried different skewers but doesn’t seem to matter. Maybe it doesn’t fit right with the DA. No sound when I use a regular wheel, so it definitely has something to do with the disc. I’m taking it to my lbs this afternoon, but they are not that good when it comes to stuff like this. I am worried that the disc is flexing from side to side too much and hitting the brake pads or wheel guards. Also worried about the noise - when it gets worse, it really sounds like something’s going to break or something bad. I am leaving for St Anthony’s in two days, so time is of the essence. Anybody had a similar problem with the renn and/or felt? any suggestions?

  1. You should call Frank at Renn. He likely knows more about the wheel than anyone here.

  2. Not enough detail. What components are on the bike? 9sp or 10sp? Is the cassette on properly?

it’s a 10 spd shimano, and i am pretty sure the cassette is on right, though that is one of the first things i’ll ask my mechanic.

give me a call. 901 725 2211. we are always open.
