Help removing FSA crank w/octalink BB

Everything I read says I need this CCP4 Park tool. I now have it followed the directions and the cranks does not come off. Any help?

Is there a retaining ring still in there? If they aren’t self-extracting there might be and it’d be real tough to get the crank off with it there.

This discussion may help…

As Phil said your cranks should have a retaining ring which is threaded into the crankarm (around the crank arm bolt) . Leave that in and remove the crank arm bolt. The bolt will back out against the cap.

FSA typically do not include the self extracting caps with their cranks and most likely you simply have to remove the bolt that is used to secure each crank arm. Something to look out for, whent the crank bolt is removed, it should have a gold or silver colored metal washer on the threads of the bolt as well. If you did not see this washer when you removed the crank bolt, then the washer is still in the bolt hole of the crank arm and is preventing the Crank Remover tool (CCP-4) from actually applying any leverage to the spindle. In fact, in that condition applying to much torque will result in damage to the threads off the insert in the crank arm that the tool threads into.
