Help please... Wirting copy for an athlete's travel/training camp

I’m writing copy for a banner to help promote Doug Stern’s Triathlon Training Camp in Curacao. I’ve been there and I think it’s cool. I’m going back this year, prolly with some buddies.

I agreed to help Doug sell spots for the trip on our website. Here’s the problem: I have some sick writer’s block today for some reason, and the deadline is midnight tonight for the copy.

So, how would you guys sell this trip? Personally, I think the trip speaks for itself, but then again, I’ve been on it.

Basically, the mission here is to motivate people from around the world to spend the cash and commit the time to go to Curacao to train for triathlons for 9 days during the dead of winter. Since it is a nice place, it seems like a no-brainer.

I’m stuck… I have excellent photos and resources, just not many copy ideas.

How do I sell this?

not until you tell us about the Kuota affair
.

Yeah, I’ll second that!

What affair?

Maybe one of the top Canadian pros (Reid, Bentley, Evans) is going to show up in Kona on a Kuota and Tom wants to know beforehand, so he can order a couple for his shop.

You mentioned the Kuota affair… I prefer to call it Kuotagate.

Um, anyway…

I wanna help my buddy Doug sell some training trips…

Ideas?

Get him to comp Marisol and half of ST will beat a path to his door…

I’ve heard nothing but good things about that trip.

I’d give some history/background on Curacao – where is it, what is the history, culture, food, etc. Most people know it is a nice vacation spot, but nothing else.

I’d give some background on Doug. Racers he has helped. Some small inspirational quotes from said athletes.

I’d give a brief “schedule” of what happens so people know to expect. Is this for hardcore racers? Is this only for people that want to work on swimming? What coaches will be there? How much free time will I have? What if I am a terrible runner? What if I am a great cyclist? What if I want to do my own workout here and there?

I’d list the alternative activities (skydiving, snorkeling, diving, etc.) that are available.

Is everything included? If not, what isn’t? What if I’ve never travelled with my bike before?

Hope that helps…

“Pain in paradise”

“Free Beer”

That’s it - I’m out of ideas. No charge.

just mention Curacao and don’t mention swimming…that should attract most triathletes…

What Rappstar wrote. I think the most important point is to clearly state the ability level of the camp. If it is a camp that can happily accomodate all ability levels, I’d foot-stomp that along with the sheer joy of a combo travel/training package.

The camp happens in January? I’d also mention that spouses/SOs are welcome* AND it is the perfect gift to give each other for the holidays.

*I don’t know that much about the camp, but if spouses are welcome, well then, the camp kinda sells itself.

Perfect. perfect. Thank you guys for getting me started.

Tom

There are enough folks in here that may be interested in this trip/camp

DO you have any of the details - cost/accom/dates etc?

Pitch it as …

Curacao swim camp - buy a one way ticket here - then swim home!

AJ

Oh - and the idea of comping Marisol - BRILLIANT absolutely BRILLIANT!

It will all be on my site tomorrow. If I make the deadline tonight…

Since we announced that Marisol was coming to our EP Camp, we had 20 more guys wanting in. We’ve got 4 places for the camp going on eBay now ;-)))

currently going for $4999 and we don’t even have a Shaman!

Why do you need a Shaman when you have the one and only smartasscoach?!

Also the wisdom of that great athlete sponsored by Dryer’s, Olaf Sabatschus!

And a bunch of Portuguese dudes to sing stupid songs!

woohoo hoo hoo hoo…

Dude, we are the merda!
