I’m writing copy for a banner to help promote Doug Stern’s Triathlon Training Camp in Curacao. I’ve been there and I think it’s cool. I’m going back this year, prolly with some buddies.
I agreed to help Doug sell spots for the trip on our website. Here’s the problem: I have some sick writer’s block today for some reason, and the deadline is midnight tonight for the copy.
So, how would you guys sell this trip? Personally, I think the trip speaks for itself, but then again, I’ve been on it.
Basically, the mission here is to motivate people from around the world to spend the cash and commit the time to go to Curacao to train for triathlons for 9 days during the dead of winter. Since it is a nice place, it seems like a no-brainer.
I’m stuck… I have excellent photos and resources, just not many copy ideas.
Maybe one of the top Canadian pros (Reid, Bentley, Evans) is going to show up in Kona on a Kuota and Tom wants to know beforehand, so he can order a couple for his shop.
I’ve heard nothing but good things about that trip.
I’d give some history/background on Curacao – where is it, what is the history, culture, food, etc. Most people know it is a nice vacation spot, but nothing else.
I’d give some background on Doug. Racers he has helped. Some small inspirational quotes from said athletes.
I’d give a brief “schedule” of what happens so people know to expect. Is this for hardcore racers? Is this only for people that want to work on swimming? What coaches will be there? How much free time will I have? What if I am a terrible runner? What if I am a great cyclist? What if I want to do my own workout here and there?
I’d list the alternative activities (skydiving, snorkeling, diving, etc.) that are available.
Is everything included? If not, what isn’t? What if I’ve never travelled with my bike before?
What Rappstar wrote. I think the most important point is to clearly state the ability level of the camp. If it is a camp that can happily accomodate all ability levels, I’d foot-stomp that along with the sheer joy of a combo travel/training package.
The camp happens in January? I’d also mention that spouses/SOs are welcome* AND it is the perfect gift to give each other for the holidays.
*I don’t know that much about the camp, but if spouses are welcome, well then, the camp kinda sells itself.
