Help needed with Di2 setup

My objective: to have the smaller 3 port junction box exposed rather than the larger 5 port junction box
My proposed solution: Use 2 SM-JC41 junctions to link together all the wires according to the picture. Will this work?

Should be fine, but I assume that the “cateye button hack” you are showing is connected through the smart chip of shifters.

Yes, the little black box I made was my representation of the actual circuit board you need to do the Cateye button hack (well documented on other sites)
.

Yes.

This is also my set-up. However, I used the JC41 to connect Right Shifter/Brake as well as Left Shifter/Brake, joined them with a splitter like you have. I have EW90A connected to one JC41, & the last port on the second JC41 runs into the frame. Remember to plug any unused ports.

Thanks Jamaican. So you have the same thing except instead of the Cateye hack buttons, you have the brake/shift levers, everything else the same as I propose right?
Are there any neat applications that you know of for the extra port that I’ll have available in the JC41 box? Should I run a wire out of that port to somewhere else in the frame for some other reason?

SM-EWW1 plus Edge 810/510 or 1000 gives you wireless gear indication.

Yeah it’s pretty much the same except I have Ultegra Brake/Shift levers in lieu of the Maguras. As long as everything is plugged in it should all work. The EWW1 as mentioned would be nice, but it would plug in at the RD (I’m hoping the guys at Saris will add this to the Joule through a firmware upgrade). Otherwise, I can’t think of any other useful feature for that extra port during normal riding. The Shimano PCE1 Diagnostic tool would require a free connection point, so you could use it that way. But unless you’re doing crazy shop-level diagnostics, the BCR1 should be fine (plugs in the side of EW90A/B, no extra ports needed) along with the E-Tube software.

The Edge 510 will pick up the SM-EWW1?

Yes. There is new beta firmware that supports it. 3.24

As well, the sm-eww1 will work anywhere on the di2 bus, not just at the rd.
