Help: Need suggestions for TV listening headphones

I have a trainer in the garage, a TV to watch, and a DVD player to show movies. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to listen to the movie with headphones? Hooking the headphones up to the Tv with RCA connectors results in an almost inadible sound.

What’s your setup and how does it work for you?

Wireless headphones? (suggestions for ones that I can use that aren’t huge)
Amplifier for my regular headphones (other than a giant unit)?

Caveat: Can’t spend my life savings on a cool system.

Why are you using RCA connectors (unamplified) as opposed to the headphone socket (amplified)? Just get a headphone extension cord from Fry’s or somewhere like that.

Go to JR.com and order one of the sinehinser (misspelled) models. Just look under wireless headphones section. They have some deals running right now.
They are wireless headphones. You plug the base system into an open RCA out on your TV. The different models have various ranges and options between rechargable batteries or disponsable. Range is great. I’ve got the cheapest model and they work about 100 meters away. I think all the models have autoshut off option. I sweat like a pig on my trainer and haven’t had any degredation of performance in the headphones.

I bought my husband the RCA wireless headphones from our local Radio Shack years ago and they worked great though he never tried them on a wind trainer. He recently got a more expensive Sony wireless headphones through TV/Audio catelog but doesn’t like them as much as the RCA’s. He likes that he can have his TV sound up as loud as he wants, can walk around the house, any time of the day or night and not disturb anyone, plus they block out exterior noise that bothers him (lawn mowers, cars, motorcycles, dogs barking, etc).

RCA outputs are not amplified to headphone levels. You can buy a headphone amp but not cheap…probably cheaper to buy a DVD player that has a headphone output.

I am about to get something like this:

The thing about large ear covering type headphones is that they make me sweat too much. With something like this I can get use my mp3 player in fm mode and any headphone I want to use.
