It’s my right knee on the left side (inside) it hurts when I bike and abit when I’m running. But after like 15-20 min. I can’t feel the pain, but I know it’s there…!
Is this a common “injury” and does anyone know a easy way to get back on the road FAST…!
I have the national champs coming up on 07.03 and the European 07.23…! So I’m really in a very importent preparation now!
Really need good and fast answer on this one, almost crying myself to sleep…!
is the pain a little below the knee? or just directly on the inside level with the knee?
my initial guess is tight hamstrings, quads and calves. this is where my injury is too–on the inside of the knee, but a little lower where the quad, ham and calf intersect.
with all of this stuff coming up, you should get yourself into rehab quickly so they can address it, give you prescription anti-inflams and possibly a TENS unit to use at home.
my doc says that the good news is that this is the type of thing that shows up quickly and goes away quickly–soft tissue stuff. i’m no doc, but i bet the pain is from inflamation which has occured from inflexibility and slight muscular imbalances. go to the best doc in town and address it so you can still race.
deep water run in the meantime and continue on with your biking…the bike actually will help it (at least from my experience). gently stretch at least 3 times a day (I know, who wants to hear that, right. But DO IT anyway
Every one is different and with the same symptoms may have different issues so diagnosing you remotely via a forum may not work well for you. See an orthopedic surgeon.
Now that I have the disclaimer out of the way I have the same problem off and on. It comes back when I get in really good shape. I had an MRI and arthroscopic surgery about ten years ago and the doctor told me there was nothing visibly wrong. The main things were avoiding running downhill, taking it easy on stairs going down, standing up when climbing on the bike and using easier gears for me. May want to see someone about getting fitted on the bike.
Your kneecap could be tracking wrong. I have that problem and recently saw a orthopedic surgeon. He had me do leg lifts (30 at a time - 3 times a day) and the pain went away. As a runner, you develop some muscles more than others which can pull you kneecap in different directions. Over time, the kneecap tracks wrong and it will wear away the cartilage and you feel some pain. Thats what my problem is anyway. It’s called Chondromalacia. I’m not a doctor and you could have something different, but I think it’s a common problem. You should get it checked out.
Thanks for all the fast replies!! I went to a doc today, he told me that it it might be a starting inflamation and I needed to strech more.! But I liked to hear it from somebody else:D I have like 7 weeks summerholiday right now, so I have a lot of time to strech and train.! So streching and warming it will be.! I really hope to start training hard on sunday again.!
did the doc give you script anti inflams or a TENS unit? if not, call and get these things! the TENS unit is from EMPI (other companies might make them too, not sure). it really will help.
