This is part running shoe and part marriage issue.
I need the collective’s help on this one. Obviously, Mrs. Gestapo needs new running shoes. And, I am not “qualified” to assist in the process. First off, I am a neutral shoe guy and I am married to her. Therefore, I really have no idea what she may, or may not, need in a shoe. And even if I did, she would not take my advice.
Here’s her deal:
She is in the middle of her third decade on the planet. She recently (over the last eighteen months, or so) got into running. Last November was her first, ever, 5K race. She has been athletic all her life, but never really did the running thing.
She runs five days a week with a long run of 5 miles.
Her normal distance is 3 miles with some pace work. From what I can tell she usually negative splits all her runs.
95% of her running is done on a tread mill.
She is a heal striker. Other than that her form looks pretty good. She looks comfortable running.
She has recently upped her pace from 9:00/mile to the 8:00/mile average with the help of a trainer (again she will not listen to me, so I don’t even try. I just pay for the trainer) Her pace work is around 7:15/mile.
Her current shoes are Brooks Adrenaline 7.0’s and they show wearing on the outside of the heels. I am guessing that they have about 200 to 250 miles on them.
She has just started complaining of pain in the inside of her right knee.
Any help is appreciated.
