Why are those always a problem??? I had my laptop woking with bith CT’s after lots of frustrations. Now I have my PC up there, back on square one. I am at the step where I download the driver for the sewell adaptor and keep getting the “cannot find file” or “sorry can’t finsih installation” GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I restarted pc, uninstall, reinstall, tried drive “C” drive “E” even went on website to see if i needed a new software version but i got lost on website.
Perhapos this is good for the CT forum, but I was hoping to get an answer this afternoon so I can finsih my project, not in 2 weeks!
And you are sure you are downloading the correct driver for your operating system? Where are you downloading the driver from? I’d try downloading directly from Sewell if you are not already:

ok here is the scoop. same message, i tried XP and XP64 , both give me the same message:
Cannot Install this hardware
An error occured during the installation of the device
The system cannot find the file specified
I saved the files i opened from the website in a folder I called “sewell” Any idea what I am doing wrong? i looked on CT forum, didn’t find much on the topic.
So your system is Windows XP, you saved the files, which are zip files, then double clicked one, which should show you a new file called “setup.exe”, then you double clicked that one, and then it tries to run the installation process and that’s when you see that error message? I just tried that and it seemed to run through everything just fine for me…
ok, i get thru that, it says that it’s installed, then i plug it in, says found new hardware, gives me the warning window, i hit “coninue anyway”
THEN
It brings a window the says “files needed”
and says: "the file ser2pl.sys on usb serial diskette is needed
type the path where the file is located and then click ok
At that point, i didn’t know where it was located so i put those “files” in my dfocument, and try to open and then it brings the message.
If you go back to the first page I gave you, there is a link on there called “Files (for use for use with the Windows Hardware wizard)” That ser2pl.sys file is in that download. So download that to your computer and enter in that path when it asks you to…
yep, did that. then after that it says it can’t install. It does find the path. weird
Dis-able any security software/device; Norton, NOD, Pop-up blockers, whatever… on your laptop, and try it again.
maybe i need to unistall it all which i thought i did but i don’t think it really uninstalled. i don’yt know how to uninstall. this is a full day project!
No clue what’s wrong then…sorry! Guess you’re stuck with that laptop!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Ok i give up and call either sewell or computrainer tomorrow. very frustrating!
