Help me update my R3-SL

I’ve fallen off the cliff on keeping up with all the new gadgets for cycling.

What I want to do is update my 2009 R3-SL with a new group set. Don’t have a real budget, but I’m more of
a weekend warrior now than I was in 09!

Here’s what I’m thinking:
Replace old Dura-Ace with Di2 11 speed or SRAM.
Maybe do a Rotor crankset, but I don’t know what one.
Brakes are zero gravity, I might replace those too.

My wheels are older 303’s set up for DA 10spd. I think I would have to change the hub if I went to Di2
and maybe the same for SRAM?

would be great to hear your opinion.

Thanks!

After you upgrade can you help me upgrade?

I’ll take your Dura Ace and your 303’s

If you do Di2 I would recommend a Dura Ace crank rather than Rotor. It will shift MUCH better and that really is the point of Di2. If you do switch to 11 speed from the older 303 you can but a campy 9/10/11 speed hub body on it and a campy 11 speed cassette without having to re-lace the wheels, I know it is heresy but it will work as the 11 speed spacing is the same. Carbon spoke holes are not real big on re-laceing and are more prone to cracking if the spoke angle changes, which is the reason I wouldn’t re-lace them.

Why upgrade?

Dan/Jordan,

Can we please get a “Like” or “Favorite” button!

just like to change things up every now and then. It’s been 5+ yrs, I might have close to 10,000 miles on it. Plus, it’s great to have some new hardware!

As an alternate to a DA crank, get a PM ( quarq) with praxis rings. Works great with 11 speed di2.
