Help me choose my wheels for IMC

Dear All,

I am doing IMC in a couple of weeks time and need some help deciding which wheels to use. I am lucky in that I have a set of corima carbon wheels, a HED tri spoke front and a HED disc rear. I have not had the tri spoke and disc very long so I haven’t ridden them very much. Which combo would be best taking into account the couple of hills at IMC, the usual (windy??) weather and my inexperince on the tri spoke and disc over a long ride?.

Any advice appreciated

Tommo

I’m going with the tri-spoke and disc… therefore you should too.

I have done IMC several times with a Disc rear and a Corima Carbon front…very nice combo and does very well in the wind. Sounds like a mix and match option for the day!

I would go with the disk on the rear and whatever you’re most comfortable riding on the front. There’s a lot of flat and gently rolling on that course, and not much crosswind anywhere.

If the winds are severe, like they were a couple of days prior to the 2003 race, the Hed 3/disk combo could be a bit hairy coming down from Twin Lakes. Due more to the H-3 then the disk, IMHO.
