Well, it’s not exactly a true ST-type bike, but my wife wants one for XMAS. Here’s the rub. No chance will it be a road or tri-bike. She hates cycling and would never ever ride it. Instead, she wants a cruiser type to put a child seat on the back and spin the id around the neighborhood 2x per month. Maybe do a loop or 2 on our street when our baby gets her first big wheel. But that is the exten of the riding. As a result, I’d rather not spend a lot of dough. Any ideas on where to look? Is this a Walmart type purchase?
never buy a walmart bike for your wife. buy her a townie. most comfortable bike on earth. flat foot technology lets her put her feet flat on the ground and still have proper leg extension. here:
Any of you (us) working stiffs have any input? Does Performance Bike carry this type of bike?
Sounds like an invitation to build a cafe racer…
Here’s what I’d do:
Trek Clyde
Ebay a Judy 80mm fork
Of course…you need a Chris King headset
Race Face Stem
Easton Monkey light low rise
EC70 Seat post
Big ass’d seat
TruVativ Cranks - SS, of course
College SPDs (platform/SPD)
Rear basket
No kiddie seat…buy a trailer.
Thanks. That’s an interesting idea. I guess I’m still harboring some hope, deep down, that if I get her something more “racy” (even like a MTB with slicks) then maybe she’d work up the desire to actually start to ride more than just a neighborhood loop.
