Help installing new integrated aerobars

Now I know by now you guys are probably sick of my aerobar questions but i have one more. I got a set of used vision bars. I want to install them but I have a few questions. How do I internally route the cables. there are holes underneath but i am not sure which way it goes. The other question I have is when i install the brake levers and shifters will i need to adjust the derailer and brakes? Also if the cables are too long can they be cut without having to adjust? Im mechnically inclined but have never messed with the cabels and adjusting before. thanks

Nos,

The cables will need to routed from the aerobar to the brakes and derailleurs - so yes it will need adjustments. I think you are attempting to do this from the brake/ derailleur to the levers and this won’t work. You can not cut the shifter/ brake lever end of the cable, you cut the other end. You need the ‘head’ on the cable in the lever/ shifter for it to function.

You will need to be holding the brake/ shifter and put the cable through it and then route it to the brake/ derailleur. The shifter cable will come out of the aerobar just before the wing. The brake cable will come out in the ovalized opening in the wing/ handlebar.

Make sense?

Also, DO NOT MESS with the adjustment screws of the derailleurs. If the shifting is working fine now, you won’t need to adjust those after changing the aerobars. All you need to adjust is the tension of the various cables.

good luck

The easiest way to do this is to take the cable and fish it through the bars then put the cable housing over the cable and run it along the cable until it sticks out both end. Now take out the cable, insert the brake or shifter into the bar and run the cable back through the brake/shifter and into the housing.

Like the last poster said. If everything was working fine, put the shifter into the smallest gear and position the deraileur the same way then pull on the cable real good and tighten.

Good luck.
