Help! I Hate Swimming

Thanks for the advice so far. I know I have the wrong attitude about my swim training and I do need to change this mentality. Right now I view swimming as a necessary evil to compete in triathlons. I do need to incorporate more training into my swimming rather then just plugging away.

I did the majority of my swimming in the river last year and I enjoyed it much more then the pool, but even that became a drag. Again, I’ll do the work. I’m just looking for a way to make it more enjoyable. I like the satisfaction and challenge of tri’s and I won’t stop just because I have a hard time enjoying the swim. I played wide reciever in college and I love football. I hated walk throughs, sprints, watching film, and most practices but I did it because I loved the games. It never crossed my mind to quit the team and take up golf because I didn’t enjoy a few components of the sport. It’s the same with swimming. I enjoy the challenge on race day.
