Help fix my fixie fix! (UPDATE)

I bet your LBS could order you a Surly Steamroller and have it in by Tuesday.

The geo of the felt is quite different from the Pista concept. Nice bike though. I think it would be great for the track but it wouldn’t be my choice for a fixed gear roadie.

Thanks, I just sent an email out to them

Their $769.00 bike is a bit out of my price range. Perhaps they have something used.

Good luck on your hunt.

I hope santa is sending me a new Fort Uno for Chirstmas.

Have a great Christmas Thom

Go there and get a used one for a great price. You’ll be the envy of all the neighborhood kids.

About 2 months ago I picked up a Raleigh Rush Hour, it’s a very simple steel frame fixie. I was out the door for $600 with tax, a bunch of cleat parts that I needed and some other small goodies.

I changed the front ring from the 48t stock one to a 39t ring we had at home and have been having a blast ever since.

There is enough room on the fork and frame to run cyclocross tires and I’ve done a few local races, rode a bunch on some local trails too. Fun way to stay fit during the winter.

My longest ride fixed has been ~50 miles over very hilly roads and it was a blast! Going down hill at 30mph doing 150rpms is quite the experiance.

Check out www.chucksbikes.com and look in the frames and complete bikes section. There are a few inexpensive frames and bikes that might work. If you just get the frame, you can then order the build parts for a pretty low price. I’ve shopped at Chucks Bikes before and haven’t had any trouble.

Good Luck.

Adam

I didn’t read all of the posts here, but I have a Pista. It rides nicely. You can usually get a prety good deal on them. They occasionally show up on eBay. My LBS put on a front brake and Sheldon Brown will do the same. I also switched out the handlebar with a shiny road style ($25 or so) one from nashbar, but that’s because my old bod had a hard time reaching all the way down to those track bars.

Try one of these. Great for winter training
