Help change from Asics, nimbus 8

Sounds like you were in shoes that absolutely didn’t fit! That sounds aweful. Do you have a good running store nearby?

Our local store does sort of a blind “Taste Test”, only with your feet. They will determine your foot strike and the basics (narrow, wide, arch type, etc.) and basically bring out every shoe that fits you. Put one brand on one foot and another on the other. You go run. Return, determine which felt better, it stays, and another shoe goes on the other foot and repeat. Eventually you will have a shoe that fits you better than every other shoe in the store. This is how I found that Asics were the right shoe for my foot shape. I’d never tried them before, but now I know from experience that I don’t need to look any further until they change their molds.

Blisters all over suggest that you are really running on some crazy surfaces and your foot is flying all around in your shoes. Honestly, I forget that I am wearing shoes when I am running in the DS trainers…they are attached and basically a part of my foot. I ran a half marathon in them with no socks on a hot day with no blisters. I put on socks and tie the laces a little tighter before I head off the beaten path, and on the rockier stuff I like a little more between my foot and the sharp pointies like the eagle trails or at the very least a full half inch of EVA like the Cumulus or Mizuno Wave.

Get yourself to a good running shop and find the shoe that fits your foot. Running is hard enough when your feet aren’t in pain.
