Helmet headlamps

what ones do you use? i just got the Black Diamond Zenix IQ LED Headlamp. I wear an L helmet and it doesn’t fit that well. and its not really comfortable to wear underneath. any others you can recommend, my wife isn’t keen on decents into dark canyons with no street lights. i need some help!

or do you know of any areobar mountable lights that will work for vision tech pro bars?

If price is not a concern then I would recommend anything made by Light & Motion or Night Rider but most of these items start at $150 and go up for their. For the budget conscious, you can use typical outdoor lights (not cycling specific), that operate on AA batteries. I have the Princeton Tec Yukon headlamp which I was able to adapt for helmet use with a roll of doulbe sided velcro tape but I am currently considering getting this light by the same company: http://www.coloradocyclist.com/common/products/productdisplay2_v2.cfm?PRRFNBR=36224&S=36225,36224,37301,37302,37303

I mount my headlamp on my aerobars using some creativity and the helmet mount. I have HED bars, so I don’t know if that’ll work for VisionTech, but give it a shot.

I personally prefer to have the light on the helmet so I can control where light is going, but end up mounting on the bars for early am group rides so I don’t blind people every time I look at them.

i looked at the more expensive ones at the trek store, but was looking for something a little cheaper and i was a little worried about the weight of the battery pack. where does it get stored? i wonder how annoying the cable is.

If you actually want to see with the headlamp and want to keep the price down the Princeton Tech EOS is a really nice one. 1 watt LED, small package with elastic strap. Just put the strap over the helmet and tie wrap or velcro the lamp in place. If you just want a flasher, the smaller Aurora or Petzl Tikkas are pretty nice too and hav ea long battery life.
