Helmet fit and aero position

I’ve been thinking lately about getting a new helmet (the one I have is a bit too loose fitting and reading Tom D’s editorial made me wonder) and would like to know what people here think about how high the helmet should be on one’s forehead.

Let me explain, my current helmet (fits ok width-wise but is a tad too big length-wise) when I am aero does get a bit in the way of looking ahead if I don’t crane my neck, which sucks (I’ve recently switched bikes and got a new fit which means my position is a bit lower of what I was riding before, nothing too aggressive).

When you have your helmet on (and it fits properly) are you supposed to be able to see the front ‘edge’ of the helmet if you look straight up with your eyes? should it sort of be aligned with your eyebrow bones (to minimize occlusion when riding aero) or is it supposed to sit lower?
