heres my situation…my buddys wife wants to get him an aero helmet for christmas, so she asked me what kind to get etc. so i offered to buy her one off of ebay and she could just pay me back. so i got him a giro advantage 2 and i was thinking that maybe i should customise it for him and buy some decals with his kids names on the sides of his helmet, as i have seen this before. my question is this, would he want just his 2 boys’ names on the side of his helmet, or would he want his wifes name on there too? if it make any difference, he is 34ish

Just the kids. Look at coworkers’ desks; if they have kids the pictures on their desk, screensaver, etc. are usually just the kids, not the spouse.
Put the stickers on…it’s a gift, not a DIY project for him.
Option 2: Tell her what you are thinking of doing and ask her what she wants…since she’s the one giving the gift.

Kids name on the side, and wife in he back. This place makes some really nice decals. Never tear up. I put some on my MX helmet and my new Giro Adv 2! Looks sweet.

As cool as that is I would never do that on a race helmet for tris. Too many chances to have it hit in transition or droping it to the ground in t2. I know how much those paint jobs can cost too. Just doesn’t seem worth it.
