I’m officially untexanized and am a PAC NW fellow now…the training conditions in Central WA are absolutely amazing…but come on…why are people saying hi all the time? Why is it 101F? (and why is everything so much more expensive than Texas??)
where you live? i live in Central Wa also.
they say hi cause they are friendly, well that or to anoy you.
I was born and raised in Paris. People say hi there to…nevermind…they never do.
I’m in Ellensburg.
Ah, E-burg. Know it well. Hope you get used the smell of cow crap wafting throught the air in the summer/fall. I’m in Wenatchee.
How’d you end up in E-burg? School?
You oughta do the Whiskey Dick triathlon. No joke on the name, look it up.
School indeed…but on the other side…faculty in CS at CWU.
If I could deal with the smell of dead coyotes in the desert around El Paso…
When you drive back to Yakima (assuming you’re still getting a place there) drive through the river canyon. There is a pretty good marathon that starts near the mouth of the canyon and finishes at the other end. Little bit of a longer drive than the freeway just because you have to slow down all the time.
Also there is a 5k in Moxee in a couple of weeks if you run. Home of ‘Hops’ as in beer ingrediant.
John
there?
Yes. I received my worst sunburn ever on that dang river.
Once you settle in I can give you some restaurant recommendations if you like Mexican food. My family lives in the lower valley on a farm.
lower valley on a hop farm? you from around grandview?
"I was born and raised in Paris "
“The long and winding road, to your door…”
ends up in Central Washington State. May god have mercy on your soul.
Glad you made it there safely (with or without your stuff). Cheers!

AP
It’s nice here you know…And the road is never over…
EBURG in the house. Welcome aboard.
Welcome!
We’ve got a nice Oly Tri in Coeur d’Alene next weekend (www.cdatriathlon.com) if you’re up for a scenic 3-hour drive.
Just 101? Wimp. It was between 103 and 111 here west of the mountains just 2 days ago
Welcome to Washington. Has the problem with moving your stuff resolved itself?
it has…I guess the next move will be done with professional movers though…not guys picking random stuff on the way, with a rather small truck and with work way over their heads
.
Welcome!
Welcome indeed!
I was a late winter/spring transplant from NM to the emerald city, but yeah- the conditions here are completely fantastic at the moment.
NM to Seattle. Is the culture shock over yet?
I only lived in NM for a year so it wasn’t all that bad of a move, I was ready for this one.
Among my various moves, the ones that completely shook my world were:
Peru to New Jersey as an early teen (first time living in the US long-term)
Denmark to Kansas as a young professional (one of these is not like the other of these)
I quite like it here, and I hope to set down roots. Ideally I’ll stay at least 3 years?
