HED3 not spinning as long as my Ritchey wheel

Is this normal for a HED3 front not to spin for as long as my stock Ritchey front wheel? No I have not timed it but you can tell just by watching, the Ritchey seems to spin for ever. The Ritchey came stock on my Felt DA 700. Thanks, OH, the RENN disc seems to spin for a long time also.

Hello,

It may not be a good thing that your HED3 does not spin as long as your Ritchey, but the spinning freewheel test has been disproven in terms of aerodynamics and raw speed. You may just have a slow wheel that spins for a long time.

That actually makes sense  Maybe the HED3will lossen up with more use, it has about 30 miles on it. Thanks

Definitely wait until it’s broken in…

If you are mechanically inclined you can adjust the preload on the bearings in the H3. This goes out of adjustment some times for me.

Maybe thats what I get for spending 400 on a HED instead of 800 on a ZIPP??

This is a possible problem with any wheel that I have ever owned that used cartridge bearings. There is no maintenance free wheel. I was at a race this weekend where a guy had his new Zipp disk had exactly the same problem, the preload was way too high and the wheel did not spin.
