What is the word on the new Hed3 Carbonlites? I realize they are not out yet, but was wondering what the difference was compared to a normal one. I know what I have seen is that it is suppose to be like 150 grams lighter than a normal one.
2nd question is on Bontrager disc’s: How are these? Anyone use them, and what are your impressions? How are the bearings, smooth, tight, last long? The reason I ask is that I can get it fairly cheap, long story, but I have only seen one in a tt race last year. I have seen nobody at any of the tri’s I have done in the last 2 years that use them. I see mainly zipps, heds, and a few renn’s.
OK, maybe I shouldn’t be shooting my mouth off about things where I have little first-hand knowledge, but aren’t the Bontrager disks basically just rebadged Zipps (and the previous, non-dimpled model at that, although I thought I saw some USPS guys with dimples - the wheels, not the chins)? Are the bearings or any other hardware any different?
the bontragers are Zipp disks and unless I’m wrong and the other guy is also wrong they are still the 2003 non-dimpled models. They do have pretty stickers though. Hopefully I’ll have my website up soon and then you can just buy some pretty stickers for any disk. Although if you have dimples on your disk no stickers for you as they won’t stick. This must be the reason for Bontrager keeping the old style disks, they look cooler and that’s good for way more than time savings of the dimples.
I think the coolest disk would be one with those little screamer whistle thingies that they used to have on Nerf footballs. The faster you go the louder it screams.
