Is Hed in any way shape or form affiliated with Planet X, there frames and wheels seem VERY similar?
Don’t ask Hed about this, they(Anne) will not answer. I have in my garage 5 Hed wheels, Hed bars, Hed aerobottles, Hed Vo3 frame…get the picture? I was concerned over who’s bike and technology I really had purchased…kind of like buying a porsche and finding the exact same car sold as a yugo later. While this is common in wheels, not so with bikes. One manufacturer may make frames for another, but but rebadge the same exact fork/frame combo. Hed will not reply to my emails…and I let them know in each one that I am in not way unhappy with their products and still wait for the new Hed Stinger 9.0 and Carbonlite disk. Wish I had an answer for you…I can say that I love my Hed v03 bike.
I think they’re rebadged items. This is an assumption but I’ve seen some up close. Also, a road team over here suddenly switched from Hed frames to Planet X ones for their TT’s with nothing other than what seems to be decal changes. I don’t know if there’s any price differences between the two though…
The Plannet X team had sponsorship from Hed last year - I have a picture some where of Kevin Dawson TT’ing with Hed Wheels and Bars with Hed written on the sleeves of his Plannet X top. Perhaps some collabaration happen between the 2, where Planet x can sell rebaged Hed stuff has occured?
That was the example I meant as well. I wonder if Planet X cut out the middleman by finding the original source and then got it direct. They do this with quite a few far eastern componenets. Thats probably what upset Ann Hed as well…
