HED Powertap Disc - Any Reviews?

Really interested in one of the new HED powertap discs. The price seems to be much less than the Zipps. Does anyone have one? If so - are you happy with it?

I have one. What exactly would you like to know? Aren’t you in the Atlanta area? If so, you can check mine out if you would like to see one in person though I’m not sure what that would tell you. Tire choice and pressure would probably influence ride quality a lot. My guess is that all discs probably ride about the same and any difference between discs might be significant but would likely go unnoticed by most of us mortals.

The C2 wheels in general have a very comfortable ride but again that is mostly because it allows you to ride lower tire pressure without worrying about pinch flats. Since you asked about the Powertap version I can tell you that the Powertap seems as accurate as the one I train with and there doesn’t seem to be any more flex in the wheel than my Open Pro with Powertap.

Ask me some specifics and I’ll let you know.

do you have a link or pic about it? I couldn’t find it on the Hed website, thanks!

I spoke to HED about this exact topic last week. They are working with Saris (maker of PT hubs)- to design a hub shell shape that makes it a little easier to put their skins on their wheels. Supposedly new hub design will be around March / April time frame. Retail is approx $2400 for the wheel (i believe it’s the new SL+ wireless model)- without Electronics kit. Add about $300 for the CPU/HR strap/download cradle/etc. They do have a narrower bump option for the narrower chain/seat stays- ala- P3C frames, etc- with their 23 mm C2 rim.
