HED pad help

I think I must sweat too much. The pads on my HED aerobars now have zero adhesiveness. Also, I tried rubber cement, which didn’t work for more than one ride. When I e-mailed HED, they suggested…rubber cement or new pads.

Anyone know of a tip for keeping these things on?

Also, just for those who have the bars and thought about cutting them, I haven’t had any problems and the HED tech guy said it would be okay. You just have to do a little sanding on the inside of the extensions and take a file to the wedge on the bar-end shifters. I’ll post a picture if anyone is curious.

-thanks

I just, finally, solved this problem yesterday. I had to pull mine off to add the spacers (and then take them out…), and also ended up with no sticky left. I’ve tried rubber cement a couple times and it doesn’t seem to last for more than a ride or two. I ended up using tubular glue. A layer on the pads and a layer on the armrest, and they aren’t coming off. I guess this glue is like really strong rubber cement, as it appears (from pulling on the edge of the pad) that I will be able to take these off again without damaging them.

I had the same problem…I replaced the HED pads with the round Profile pads…no problems…make sure that you clean the base with rubbing alcohol before applying the velcro.

Thanks for the help guys. I might try the tubular glue first. I do prefer the feel of these pads over the profile ones.

Yes, I’d be interested to see your aerobar mods and hear more detail (if there is any more), especially the exact advice that the Hed techies gave about this subject.
