Hed Jet Plus availability? Wheel musings

Anyone know if these are available yet stateside? I tried contacting HED but their web contact form is broken.

Currently on Aeolus 7s front and back but I’d like to go to something with an aluminum brake track. Thinking of going Jet 6 front and Jet Disc rear. Not sure what tires I’d run though as the rims are supposedly spec’d at 25mm

I’d suggest the Continental GP4000S tires that are 23mm wide.

I heard they’re taking orders if you call them. And they also show up on some Interweb sites.

I don’t know why they’re being so stealth about them. Maybe they’re trying to clear inventory of regular Jets before explicitly advertising them?

Edit: Thought the Competitive Cyclist links says ‘+’ it lists the width as only 23mm…

Thanks, I’m going to give them a call Monday.

I have the reverse problem, I want a standard C2 jet9 rear. The distro in my area says he can ship a plus model immediately, but the standard will not be available for some time.

too bad the plus is a no-go in my frame

What frame might I ask? I have a Speed Concept… got to think if it can swallow a pair of Aeolus it can take just about anything (iirc I measured them at 27mm).

HED 3+. That would be something.

I’ve read a lot of people clamoring for a reworked HED 3. Hopefully HED notices.

I’m old school, still riding my 1st gen plasma, not the tightest chainstay setup, but a little hip behind the tyre gap limits what will go in there. ( fairings get in the way )

Is the new 25mm rim suppose to be more aero, or just allow for a more comfortable/stable ride?

Hold up, pretty soon they will be offering the Hed Jet Plus+ that is even WIDER than the plus.

Don’t want to get left out on the wide fad.

I’ve been wondering for a while why they never tried making a 23mm H3.

Noticeably more comfortable. A bit more aero (at “average” yaw), if you believe the HED graph. What’s the fad?

I don’t believe the comfort claims and this is a tri forum where you don’t need to run a wide front tire, and yaw isn’t very high very often.

only if you go with the assumption that average yaw is greater than 12-15 deg, otherwise their data points indicate it to be slower

and since all of their wheels appear to have negative drag, folks should really be flying
.

In your opinion, what’s the optimum width to minimize Crr? I only ask because I’ve seen you and Tom A. chat about tires elsewhere on the forum and I respect your opinion.

Go out on a pair of 19mm tires on 20mm rims at 110PSI, then immediately switch to ~23mm tires on ~23-25mm rims at 90PSI. If you can’t feel the difference…

Of course the difference between 23mm and 25mm is marginal by comparison…but marginal gains!

yaw isn’t very high very often

It ain’t zero on average, and zero’s the only place that the narrower version wins (with a standard 23mm tire). And even then only barely.
