What tubes or valve extenders work best with the Hed Jet 90’s? Does 90 stand for 90mm?
Hi.
A Jet 90 is about 90mm deep, but I could tell you exactly where to start or stop measuring. I think I’ve got a 50mm valve stem with a 60mm extender on mine - it gives me enough of a stub up through the fairing to easily attach my floor or hand pump. I’ll look at my spare (with the same set-up) tonight to confirm.
Cheers,
Bryan
I have screw on extender that is long enough for the Jet 90, but it doesn’t allow my pump to read the pressure accurately. So, I’m wondering if anyone can recommend a tube with a long enough stem that doesn’t need an extender or a valve extender that will allow the pump to read the pressure accurately?
Thanks.
There are no tubes with a valve longer than 90mm. There are some 71 mm ones. Then, use a high quality presta valve extender (like Topeak with a nice rubber O-ring), pull the core out of the tube and replace on the extender. This will allow you to read the pressure properly.
Question? What do you do for a spare when racing and you flat. Do you switch your valve extender to the spare tube or do you already have a extender on your spare tube? Years ago I had a Hed Deep but never flatted during a race with it. So many years ago I can’t remember how I had the spare tube setup.
I just found this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190136129034&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=009
Topeak Extra Long Presta Valve Extension 78mm
Hopefully this will work well… ![]()
Use a longstem tube with an extender. And then take teflon tape and put it around the junction of the stem and extender, gives you a better seal, less leakage and more accurate pressure readings.
