I’m thinking about getting a Hed Jet 90 rear clincher (to compliment a Hed Alps front) wheel.
For use at primarily hilly triathlons-Wildflower and Donner Lake.
I have convinced myself that it is conceptually very similar to the Zipp 808; in clincher, about the same weight and essentially same rim depth.
But a lot less $. Do you disagree?
Also, do you need an ultra-long stem in addition to valve extender? The longest stem tubes I know of are 80mm.
Or do you think this is the wrong approach in general-and I should stick with a 60mm rim?
I use a 90mm Jet rear for training (80mm stem on a regular stem)…works great. Unknown when comparing weight to Zipp…but I love the overall resiliency of the wheel to train and race. I now race on a BW Disk…so it’s hard to compare the two, but you’ll love the Jet 90.
I’ve got a fever.
And the only prescription
is more disc covers!

I have a wheel cover from Wheelbuilder for my rear Jet 90 that should be here tomorrow. I will take pictures this weekend assuming I have time.

Well my cover came in a day early, so I mounted it up and took some pictures. It fits pretty good, I am happy with it. I used electrical tape between the cover and the rim to smooth the transition as the cover had a few wavy spots. Now it is nice and smooth.
