Hed Jet 60 with C2 Jet 90 rear

Plan on getting a Hed Jet 90 C2 laced with a Powertap 28h for the Stallion build. Currently have a set of Jet 60s laced with a Powertap. Question is: would it be all screwy if i ran the standard Jet 60 up front with a Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX 700x20 and the Jet 90 C2 rear with the same tire but 700x23. Curious as to what people have to say about this configuration. Thanks to all the ST’ers out there for all the humor, advice, and information. Currently in the middle east in the Army and have 149 days left till this over for good!! I miss my wife!!!

Why would it get screwy? Just got consistency and handling purposes, I would run the same width in both. Also, I like to keep my tires the same age, so I change one when I change the other. It prevents major lapses in judgment.

Thanks for your service. We’ll see you in 150 days!

Don’t do it, your bike WILL explode.

I think your plan sounds perfectly reasonable, and not screwy in the least. That will be a nice fast setup.

About the only thing I would change is your choice of a front tire. The 20C Open Corsa isn’t exactly a “stellar” performer Crr wise…and it’s not just because it’s a narrower tire. My suspicion is that it may be because they use the same tread mold as what’s used on the 23c tire…so the “tread width to casing width ratio” isn’t the same, i.e. it’s not just “scaled down”. If you plan on running a narrow tire on the front for aerodynamics, there are other tires as narrow or narrower than that tire and of similiar (or better) “durability” that I would choose instead. Tires like the VF Record or the Bonty Aero TT would suit the bill nicely IMHO

Before Hed started complicating the options with the new C2 rims, it was pretty common to run a narrower/lighter tire in front than the rear, both for aerodynamics in mating to the narrower rim and because the front tire bears less weight (and wear from the driving forces).
