After blowing out three inner tubes I discovered the wonderful requirement of rim tape. Who knew? Well, you lot obviously, just not me.
So I got some from my LBS … but, it looks a bit thin (as in not wide). The Jet 6’s are wider rims, 23mm, and have offset spoke holes so I don’t think the 15mm tape I bought is going to do the trick.
Does anyone else have these rims and what do you use?
zipp rim tape
How wide is it do you know?
use Stans 21mm yellow tape. Light cheap and great fit.
I used Velox 19mm. Easy to find and works fine on the C2 rims.
I think HED has recommended 22mm tape in the past. That is what I use (Velox). Never tried the 19mm. With the 22mm make sure the tape goes on well centered, or the gap for the tire bead will be insufficient.
I use the cheapest 19mm stuff I can find. I started with the 22mm stuff, but had issues changing flats with that tape.
HED recommends 22MM Velox, since not only is the rim wide but the holes are offset. Personally I’ve used Veloplugs with squares of electrical tape to keep them in place and cover any edges: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=2735176;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
I had 16mm tape with my C2 rims and had two flats because it wasn’t wide enough. I just bought some 19mm so hopefully that works.
