Hed disk or hed3c

Tubular… so no clincher tubular debates pls.

Why would someone want a Hed Disc over the Hed3C or vice versa. The hed3c is much more expensive, and likely more bombproof as a wheel… but the disc is faster? nominally at least.

what does ST think.

depends what kind of frame you ride, and, what type of course(s) you race on.

Is there an “A” race you want the wheel for? What kind of course would be your focus?

I would want the Hed3c just because it doesn’t have the ugly silver rim :). Of course that means you need special brake pads and that can be a pain.

I am sure it makes little difference either way. I emailed Hed a few weeks ago and asked them about the best wheels for IMWI and they said the with out a doubt the Hed3c. I am still not sure why they didn’t suggest the Stingers or the disc. I am guessing neither is really faster in any sort of measurable way. In the end, just go with what you think looks the best :).

I’d go for the Hed3 (not the 3c). Aluminium braking surfaces are more consistent, especially in bad weather.

I haven’t chosen my “A” race, but I think it might be the LA Triathlon this year. I am focusing on olympics only and currently have a stinger60 front. I bike at 23mph now, and am improving all the time (I’ve only been biking for a year and a half, still no plateau).

I sold my zipp disc because it was too much$$ to have in a single wheel. I’m going to take the left over’s and upgrade my aerobars to get into a better position on my bike, which is a kuota k-factor. I am currently all the way down on the frame (no spacers).

I live in tucson and am allergic to bad weather.

I have both a Hed Disc and H3. I am selling the Disc because I find the H3 to be a better all round wheel for different courses and conditions.

For what it’s worth, I chose the H3C for my T14 rig.

I think it is also cheaper, if that matters to you
