HED Carbonlite

Anybody know much about this wheel?

I am close to buying a 2004 Zipp 840 tubular Disc (650c) but after reading Triathlete this month I see that HED have a new disk, the Carbonlite which will be available from May. Triathlete reported that it will weigh around 830g for a 650c (HEDs own web site quoted 930g), either way that’s light for a lenticular disk. I also heard it will retail for around $700, now thats cheap compared to a Zipp.

As I see it nothing will touch the HED Carbonlite if the rumors are true! My problem is I must have a race wheel by mid May at the latest. I have e-mailed HED but as yet they haven’t replied.

You know how that goes. May means probably August - November. I wouldn’t count on it if you’ve got a race in May.

BTW, I was wondering about the same thing.

The only available lenticular alternative is the Xtreme G-Force Elite, the 650c comes in at about 920g. Cost in the 800’s, but still a lot cheaper than Zipp.
