I’m wondering if my HED 3 wheels need new bearings or an overhaul. I believe the wheels are faster than my Bontragger training wheels, but right now, my computer is not confirming that. Also, when I spin the wheel with no resistance i.e. lifting the bike off the ground. The HED stops spinning in less than a minute. Other wheels seem to spin forever. Am I giving myself more resistance when I put these wheels on my bike?
Have you or anyone else taken those whheels/hubs apart? I know when I took my hed 3’s apart after a big local race that was in the rain, I tightened the outside lock nut too tight and it was like pinching the hub spacers against the bearings. It dramatically cut down the time the wheel would spin. Once I figured that out, I simply backed off the nut a little and the wheel was able to spin just like it was brand new.
