If a HED 3 wheel is said to have a “runout” of .031-.035" what does that mean? This sounds like a slight deviation. Would one be able to tell while riding?
That “run-out” is side-to-side trueness. This is sometimes noticeable, sometimes not.
Most people can not true a wheel within a .001" tolerance. I have never seen it, actually. .035" is somewhat noticeable. Some can get .025" or lower in a composite wheel, which is pretty remarkable.
