Will you and your wife be competing in the Waterfall Bank Couples Championship? I heard if you open an account today you get a BOGO entry.
Safe to say that HJ is getting paid more to ride this bike than Argon is paying their entire triathlete roster. There’s your answer.
The thing that is interesting to me about this is that she could have picked any bike brand given that she was going to cover the manufacturer’s logos.
She switched from her previous bike brand and chose the Cervelo P5.
To me, this is a huge endorsement for Cervelo.
Of course, her bike selection may have been based on criteria specific to her situation. Bike fit would have been a major factor. She is 5’ 4".
Are you saying that you pay a transaction fee to get cash from an ATM?

How many locations does this bank have?

Think quite likely. Support from Argon 18 is in kind, not cash.
Sorry, what was the question?

I would go so far to say that this is the first bike she’s ridden in her career that actually fits her.
I’m not sure why more athletes don’t travel down this type of sponsorship road. Especially for things like clothing and helmets which are great advertising spaces. It’s a lot of work, but could potentially be more lucrative.
I’d be surprised if this bank sponsorship is about marketing. It’s more likely akin to the American Interbanc sponsorships from a few years back. The owner and his wife where triathletes and just wanted to contribute. I’m guessing one of the bank executives is a triathlete or is married to one.
Why not pay to have it painted? This day and age it isn’t that hard to have a frame custom painted or that expensive, Moxi (where she got the bike) is constantly showing custom painted frames.
Moxie does wrapped frames not painted. I’m getting mine wrapped right now. Wouldn’t be surprised if they used the same place for her, that decal looks very well matched to the bike finish (at least it’s not just a normal gloss black background or something).

Yeah, I’ve had the same bank for 15 years in California, haven’t lived there in 11 years.
Seeming her new tri club, Plush Has a Cervelo “sponsor†I figured she’d be on a P5D.
I would ask the bank if there is some way that they could set up your account so that there aren’t any fees.
If they can’t do that, I would switch to a bank that doesn’t have ATM fees.
Her robotic responses to questions about bike sponsorship on the YouTube video are extremely awkward

^^^^This.
The Waterfall Bank guy enjoys supporting triathlon. He bought Lagerstrom an S-Works MTB so he’d have a decent bike for Xterra (no formal sponsorship, just being a mensch), and even paid for the trip to Maui.

a few reasons:
the all consuming challenge/reward of getting a bike sponsorship - i mean this in terms of that’s akin to the holy grail of triathlon sponsors, for whatever reason. like ‘‘omg i got my first bike sponsor’’ but it’s TriRig or something like that.
“it’s a lot of work” - yes they have no time to pursue non endemic sponsorships because training full time is roughly a corporate work week in terms of hours invested. clearly, no extra time to pursue sponsorships and marketing your ROI (if any)
some of that is sarcasm…

That’s the in, but that’s not how this stays. It was a new bank and they bought spreads in tri publications and clearly are going all in and hoping for some conversion on accounts. This is a dollars and cents move, we’ll see if their support of the sport remains in 36 months. If it does it’s because it was because their activation conversion number for new accounts was hit.
I’ve been waiting for Waterfall Bank Triathlon credit card. Accumulate points usable for entry fees! Joking…mostly.
More like they should offer loans for tri bikes lol.
Not sure how them marketing to triathletes is a huge advantage. Their product offering is extremely limited. Not sure why I would open a checking account with them when there are thousands of banks locally or remotely that offer a wider range of products. I would maybe consider them for my next auto loan or mortgage but they don’t even offer those it appears.

This happened to McNamee before. He’s been riding Cervelo for a while covering up the logos and Cervelo ended up sponsoring him. High caliber triathlete like HJ picked P5D out of all the tri bikes, so you are right. This is a good opportunity for Cervelo to sponsor her and advertise. Anne Haug, David McNamee, Ben Hoffman…they already have top notch athletes and adding HJ there would be great!!
