Heartfelt congratulations to USA on a magnificent victory

So, I hear that after a long and arduous campaign, after ‘staying the course’ in the face of dreadful odds, and with the application of US grit, determination and know-how, the great American bald eagle is now officially off the endangered species list.

Just think:

  1. GWB gets to announce a victory (absent sniggers, taunts and scorn)
  2. I may well get slammed for my naivety, but I’m thinking this might be the first development that every Slowtwitter can agree is an unreservedly good thing. (It was a major success for greenies, sure, but even Conservatives wouldn’t want their national symbol extinct. Right?)

Wow what a muddled, confusing strectch of post. Good job.

but I’m thinking this might be the first development that every Slowtwitter can agree is an unreservedly good thing.

You’d think, but no.

You’d think, but no.

Won’t SOMEBODY please think of the poor sheep ranchers who’s livestock keep getting carried away by those crazy bald birds? Rats with wings they are, I tells ya!

Nah, the objections are from the environmentalists. I’m sure they don’t object to the recovery itself, but they think, it seems, that removing the eagle from the list dooms it. Apparently it should remain on the endangered species list forever, because it can’t thrive otherwise.

I am pretty sure they want every species but man on that list, and that it is Bush’s fault that it isn’t so.
