Headset Question (3)

I need to replace the headset on my bike. Trek’s website says the stock headseat is a Cane Creek IS 1-1/8" AHS (which I’m assuming is an integrated headset).

Would something like this be an OK replacement?

I don’t really understand the debate between integrated and non-integrated headsets - just basically looking for something that doesn’t cost to much and functions adequately.

Thanks

As long as it fits inside, then it’s perfect. Cane Creek makes decent (not wonderful like a King headset) headset, uses decent bearings, and I think you will be fine.

Thanks.

If I wanted to go with a non-integrated headset, would that be possible too? As long as it’s the right diameter?

What kind of bike do you have?

If you have a 2100/2300 and use the Cane Creek 41.4mm insert diameter bearing, then pretty much all the integrated headsets will use a TH #873 bearing. FSA, Cane Creek, Tange, etc…

Same bearing.

I’m 99.9% certain that Trek, even Europe doesn’t use the “standard” Campagnolo 41.8/42.0 insert diam.

yep, 2300.
