I need to decide between Delta and AmericaWest for a flight to El Paso, Tx. Any opinions as to which is better - especially given that I’m flying internationally (from Vancouver) with a bike?
Tails.
Why do they call it the tails side of the coin anyway? Now ‘heads’ I get, there’s a HEAD on it. tails… ???
Sorry, no airline opinion.
Man, there aren’t any alternatives?
I stopped flying AmericaWest 2 to 3 years ago after repeated incidents on consecutive flights. Recently, my boss started using them to fly to Costa Rica and only had good things to say about them, so I gave them another try. Short story, I got to my destination at 3:00 am instead of 9:00 pm. Since them, my boss got to spend the night in Phoenix after missing his connection due to a delay on his first leg…
Not to say that Delta is the best airline around, but I do believe that the probability of having delays and cancelled flights is higher on AmericaWest. Just don’t be surprised if your radio or headlight does not work on your Delta plane…
I kind of like Delta over America West, if the price is the same. If delta costs more, it’s not worth it.
Does America West fly bikes for free or is that another similarly sounding airline? Make sure you check out the bike fees and liability policy for both before flying. United lost one of my bike pedals and then refused to offer any compensation.
Just discovered a Continental flight for about the same price. I think I’m going to go with them.
Thanks all,
I allways call “EDGE”
It hasn’t happened yet, but when it does, it’s going to be awesome.

Francois’ choice is definitely AmericaWest
.
go with Delta and you may end up doing the camp by yourself in f…in Tulsa, OK!
Good point… I just got my Conti Elite Gold card in the mail, so I’m hoping I can score free bike shipping with them, and a seat upgrade.
Hey… all this travel’s gotta be good for SOMETHING!
